To begin, here are the updates from yesterday:
Two out of three kiddos still got up in the night, however they went right back to bed without a fight.
My boy still had sinus congestion today but the cough is gone. I used peppermint, tipped on the fingertip, and rubbed once across his forehead and on his neck, morning, midday and night. He is one who refuses to 'blow' his nose, but today he wasn't stuffy for the first time in a week, it all ran out... I know gross, but better than having him go around upset because his "nose doesn't work".
My husband informed me that the slim and sassy doesn't work in large doses... well, it could work probably if you could muster through it. He had me try it, it's not such a pleasant taste going down, but you do have a great minty aftertaste and it does curb the appetite! If you plan on drinking it, only drink about 4 oz two or three times a day, but it is probably best taken by capsules which is what they recommend in the magazine. I guess I should have read that first.
Now on to the other things I tried:
Last night I had one of my pounding headaches come on pretty quick which my usual course of action is take 3 Ibuprofin, and wait in pain for 30 min until it kicks in. Instead my hubby brought me the peppermint oil which I used on my forehead and neck, then the lavendar which I layered on top of the peppermint and also gently rubbed on my temples. Five minutes later, no headache! Cha-Ching!! I will definitely use that one again.
Today I figured out why I have been so testy the past few days. You ladies all guessed right, Aunt Flo came to call along with the pains. So I pulled out the peppermint again instead of the Ibuprofin, rubbed a little on my abdomen and lower back. It tingled a little bit and lessened the pain to just minor discomfort, and I had to reapply about 6 hours later. Another thing I think I will try again next time this comes around.
I applied Melaluca on my funky foot stuff this morning, here's what it looks like in the later stages. I will apply it again tonight before bed. We will see if it helps to clear it up.
I also started treating the warts today with Melaluca aka Tea Tree oil and a doTERRA blend called 'OnGuard'. Again I think this is something that time will tell.
Another oil I used today is a blend called 'DigestZen' I have used it before for heartburn, just a fingertip of oil rubbed down the sternum and then held my finger under my tongue for 10 seconds and the heartburn stopped. Today though was a different story, I am sensitive to meals with high fat count and tonight I made a cheesy potato ham casserole. I thought I had made the recipe work for me by substituting the heavy cream it called for with 2% milk, but it didn't work... in fact it also upset both my girl's stomachs as well. As soon as they started to groan I knew what they were going through because I was feeling it myself, so I whipped out the 'DigestZen', one drop rubbed across the lower abdomen and then the fingertip placed under the tongue for 10 seconds. Within the next 10 minutes we were all pain and gas free, although my oldest daughter did take a bathroom out of commission for a while. - I know, gross, but complete disclosure is what I'm going for here.
Last but not least: On Halloween I made a poor choice in shoes and my toes paid for it. By the time we got back from trick-of-treating I had blisters on both little toes which had popped and bled. They were so tender this morning it took me 5 minutes to get up the guts to take the bandaids off, which I did eventually amid grunts of pain. Then I decided to try my oils before bandaging them back up so I put a drop of Melaluca and a drop of Lavender on each sore before re-bandaging, and no it did not sting. Another one I will treat twice a day until it gets better. I have to say that they were less sore today than yesterday, so I wasn't walking funny like I was yesterday. Hopefully this will help it heal faster and prevent any infections.
Okay well, that is all for today (as if that wasn't enough, haha). I will keep you updated on my results.
