These past few days have been super busy and I have not been able to post daily... So I will catch you up on the latest:
My Blisters: I had started adding Frankincense along with the Melaluca and Lavender until my toe was no longer tender to the touch, then I stopped the Lavender but kept on with the other two & still bandaging the toe which was on Nov. 5th. Starting Nov. 8th I cut out the Melaluca so just a drop of Frankincense rubbed in twice a day. I stopped using the bandages on the 10th of November, and stopped putting Frankincense on it as of yesterday. This is what it looks like now:
Weight Loss: My husband decided he didn't want to waste all the Slim and Sassy he had put in his water so as he drank it, a little at a time, he added more water to weaken the taste. It ended up being about 1 drop to 4 oz of water and he was able to drink it okay then, it did work a little for him as far as reducing the amount he ate at a time. He has not lost any weight yet though. Another discovery we had is the Lemon oil. Lemon helps to detox your body. This is especially helpful for people who have a tough time losing fat even when they eat right and exercise. The problem is that the body forms fat cells to store the toxins to prevent damage to your body, so when you detox, by using a couple drops of Lemon oil in your water for example, it helps rid your body of the toxins and then you are able to burn those fat cells. So now my husband is trying that, I am not sure how faithfully though. I have had a few glasses of water (8 oz with 2 drops of oil) and it tastes pretty good, basically just like lemon water.
Athletes Foot: Although I am not sure if that is really what I have, that is what I will be calling it. I had started using Oregano along with the Melaluca on this, which I feel had better results. I tried using Oregano by itself, but it really stung so I would just do a drop of Oregano first and rub it in a little, then put a drop of Melaluca and rub it in and the stinging would stop. I was sweetly told by a friend that the essential oils were a bit odiferous (smelly) so I now only use them at night instead of twice daily.
Warts: I have kind of fallen behind on this one so I will have to restart another time.
Infection: One of the problems that I have been dealing with for the bast few years are reoccurring infections, both yeast and bacterial (the 'good' bacteria, just an over abundance of it). I would get a perscription, it would clear up for a week or two, then come right back. I found a recommendation to put a few drops of Oregano (3-5) and a few drops of Melaluca (3-5) on a tampon at night for 7 days and it should clear up. I did it for 3 nights, then missed a night, then back on 1 night and I plan on just doing it another 3 nights and see how it goes.
Stress induced Vertigo: Another thing I have been dealing with for a few years is Vertigo, which for me is stress induced. For those who don't know what that is, basically you are very dizzy to a point where you cannot walk and I move my head while I have it, I get sick to my stomach even to the point of puking. I have had episodes that have lasted as long as a month, or as little as 48 hours. This past week I had another episode, but right when it started I figured since it was stress induced Lavender might help. I made my way to the bathroom and put some Lavender on my fingertip and rubbed it on the back of my neck right on the spinal column up to the base of my skull and then across my shoulders, I also layered it with peppermint. Within 10 minutes I was back in business!! I did have to reapply again that afternoon and twice more the next day, but I have to say that was the biggest win of all for me so far!
Legs: My legs are quite the nuisance at times for me, if I do not drink a lot of water they will itch so badly and nothing can subdue it. Along with that, every time I shave my legs especially if I shave more than once a week they will burn and itch to the point that I will just break down and cry. This past week I have used Lavender every time my legs started bothering me, just a few drops on the palm of my hand, then rubbed onto my legs. Lavender is now my best friend, the irritation stopped almost immediately... and if I go around smelling like lavender I don't mind a bit.
Body Aches: My husband plays basketball every Tuesday night. Usually he will take Aleve after ball at night, and then again a few times the next day. Last week he decided to try 'Deep Blue' another doTERRA blend. I put about 10 drops on his back and rubbed it in and 5 drops on each of his calves and rubbed that in on the calves and his ankles. He said it worked faster than the Aleve and he only needed it done twice, ever since then he has been recommending it to everyone he talks to. After seeing his success I asked him to try it on my back, I had quite a spectacular fall down the stairs over two years ago and my lower back has ached off and on ever since, especially when I do a lot of bending down or lifting or working overhead. He put about 3 drops on my lower back and rubbed it in, the aching stopped for a few days. It smells a bit like wintergreen, just in case you're worried about being odiferous.
Cold: My youngest daughter had caught a cold and isn't very fond of having oils put on her, or in her mouth so I had to be a bit creative in using them to help her. I gave her a bath with 10 drops of 'On Guard' and 1 cup of epsom salt, the salt helps suspend the oils in the water. I also waited until she fell asleep and put some 'Breathe' and Peppermint on her feet. Also, because of the preventive ability of the 'On Guard' I also slipped two drops of it into my son's cup of egg nog in hopes that the germs would stop circulating between the kiddos, he didn't notice past the fact that his drink had more of a cinnamon taste than usual.
Trying Out Nature's Remedies
I have recently signed up as a consultant for doTERRA a company who sells essential oils. My personal journey over the past few years has slowly led me towards wholistic/natural healing methods. After a lot of research I have decided that this is worth trying and I am excited to get started. This blog will cover my experiences with using these oils, what the problem is, what oils I used and how, and the outcomes.

Keepin' on
Updates:
I continued the peppermint on my boy and his nose is almost cleared up.
I again applied Melaluca and OnGuard on my warts this morning and will this evening.
I also reapplied Melaluca on the foot stuff it seems like the spreading has stopped. The skin on my foot is noticeably dry in that area.
I can now touch the sore on my toes without crying out in pain. Last night and this morning I did add a drop of Frankincense along with the Melaluca and Lavender, putting fresh bandages on them each time. The frankincense is listed specifically for minor cuts and abrasions, it does sting a little but nothing like hydrogene peroxide does.
The next thing I want to try:
This time of year gets really rough on my oldest daughter's hands which chap really easily, then crack and bleed, lotion doesn't help much and stings really bad. I do not have the oils that are listed for that though. I guess I know what my next order will be.

The day of Melaluca & Peppermint
To begin, here are the updates from yesterday:
Two out of three kiddos still got up in the night, however they went right back to bed without a fight.
My boy still had sinus congestion today but the cough is gone. I used peppermint, tipped on the fingertip, and rubbed once across his forehead and on his neck, morning, midday and night. He is one who refuses to 'blow' his nose, but today he wasn't stuffy for the first time in a week, it all ran out... I know gross, but better than having him go around upset because his "nose doesn't work".
My husband informed me that the slim and sassy doesn't work in large doses... well, it could work probably if you could muster through it. He had me try it, it's not such a pleasant taste going down, but you do have a great minty aftertaste and it does curb the appetite! If you plan on drinking it, only drink about 4 oz two or three times a day, but it is probably best taken by capsules which is what they recommend in the magazine. I guess I should have read that first.
Now on to the other things I tried:
Last night I had one of my pounding headaches come on pretty quick which my usual course of action is take 3 Ibuprofin, and wait in pain for 30 min until it kicks in. Instead my hubby brought me the peppermint oil which I used on my forehead and neck, then the lavendar which I layered on top of the peppermint and also gently rubbed on my temples. Five minutes later, no headache! Cha-Ching!! I will definitely use that one again.
Today I figured out why I have been so testy the past few days. You ladies all guessed right, Aunt Flo came to call along with the pains. So I pulled out the peppermint again instead of the Ibuprofin, rubbed a little on my abdomen and lower back. It tingled a little bit and lessened the pain to just minor discomfort, and I had to reapply about 6 hours later. Another thing I think I will try again next time this comes around.
I applied Melaluca on my funky foot stuff this morning, here's what it looks like in the later stages. I will apply it again tonight before bed. We will see if it helps to clear it up.
I also started treating the warts today with Melaluca aka Tea Tree oil and a doTERRA blend called 'OnGuard'. Again I think this is something that time will tell.
Another oil I used today is a blend called 'DigestZen' I have used it before for heartburn, just a fingertip of oil rubbed down the sternum and then held my finger under my tongue for 10 seconds and the heartburn stopped. Today though was a different story, I am sensitive to meals with high fat count and tonight I made a cheesy potato ham casserole. I thought I had made the recipe work for me by substituting the heavy cream it called for with 2% milk, but it didn't work... in fact it also upset both my girl's stomachs as well. As soon as they started to groan I knew what they were going through because I was feeling it myself, so I whipped out the 'DigestZen', one drop rubbed across the lower abdomen and then the fingertip placed under the tongue for 10 seconds. Within the next 10 minutes we were all pain and gas free, although my oldest daughter did take a bathroom out of commission for a while. - I know, gross, but complete disclosure is what I'm going for here.
Last but not least: On Halloween I made a poor choice in shoes and my toes paid for it. By the time we got back from trick-of-treating I had blisters on both little toes which had popped and bled. They were so tender this morning it took me 5 minutes to get up the guts to take the bandaids off, which I did eventually amid grunts of pain. Then I decided to try my oils before bandaging them back up so I put a drop of Melaluca and a drop of Lavender on each sore before re-bandaging, and no it did not sting. Another one I will treat twice a day until it gets better. I have to say that they were less sore today than yesterday, so I wasn't walking funny like I was yesterday. Hopefully this will help it heal faster and prevent any infections.
Okay well, that is all for today (as if that wasn't enough, haha). I will keep you updated on my results.

Day One
Today I received my first shipment of oils and went straight to work. Here are the things I have started so far:
My 3 year old has had a cold complete with stuffy nose and cough for the past 6 days. I took some 'breathe' (one of doTERRA's essential oil blends), put my finger over the top and tipped it back and forth to get just a little bit of oil and rubbed it on his chest before bed... results in the morning.
My hubby was excited for one of the oils that came as a bonus with the kit called 'slim & sassy' (another blend). He took it and as directed on the bottle put one drop of oil per 2oz of water, drank it and lost 10 lbs immediately! Okay, no, just kidding. He put it in the water he takes to work so we will see in time what good it does for him.
Third, the kiddos were having a hard time winding down for bed so I took the Lavender oil and tipped a drop on my fingertips and gently rubbed it on their temples... 15 min later they are all asleep, maybe not a big deal, but if they all sleep through the night I'm calling it a win.
On Monday I did use my 'wild orange' oil that I got for free by hosting a class. I put a drop on my wrist and rubbed them together like you would with perfume, because I had a gymnastics class full of toddlers to coach that night and it is supposed to be a pick-me-up oil. I am not going to judge it from just one time use, but Monday night went swimmingly and I was able to keep up with them all and keep a genuine smile on my face... I probably should have used it the past couple of days too, these oils are so new to me it isn't quite habit yet.
The other things that I plan on using the oils for are: 1) Warts that I have on my hands that haven't responded to the normal wart removal stuff and 2) a funky foot deal that I've had for a few years that starts out as a few bright red dots, then turns into a blister type thing, then the skin hardens and flakes off and spreads -- The doctor I saw for it said I was having an allergic reaction to my own sweat, but I don't believe it, especially since it's only on one foot and it comes and goes. 3) And last but not least, Acne... I'm not sure yet what oils I will be using on these, but I will let you know.
I know I run the risk of everyone thinking I am a walking germ by putting this all out there, but I figure it's worth being real and vulnerable if I can help other people in the process.
